A new type of prescription drug, used to treat heart failure, has been approved by the U. S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for use in the treatment of patients with chronic heart failure (CHF). This new form of treatment is now available for patients as well, as a treatment for acute decompensated heart failure. The new form of treatment, also known as Nexium, is now available for patients as well, for those who cannot tolerate the side effects of Nexium.

About 30 patients with CHF, including 30 adults with cardiomyopathies, were studied in this new form of treatment. Patients were given a single dose of Nexium or a placebo for one week.
“The initial response to Nexium was very rapid,” says Dr. David H. Schafer, an endocrinologist at the Cleveland Clinic.
Schafer and his colleagues compared patients who were given a single dose of Nexium or placebo, or a combination of both, for four weeks. The number of patients receiving Nexium was greater than the number receiving placebo. The patients were followed for up to nine months.
“We wanted to see if the response to Nexium would be the same as with a placebo,” Schafer says.
“That is the only thing that really changed our opinion,” he adds.
Schafer believes the response to Nexium is similar to that seen in patients with heart failure, and says that the treatment of CHF should only be used as a first line of therapy.
“People with CHF often experience symptoms of heart failure, such as shortness of breath, chest pain or weakness,” Schafer says. “And they have to be treated for that.”
Schafer recommends that patients who are not responding to Nexium be given a second course of treatment, if necessary. The patient should be given the second course of treatment and monitored throughout the treatment. If they do not improve after the second course of treatment, Schafer recommends switching to an alternative treatment.
Patients were given a single dose of Nexium or a placebo for four weeks.
Schafer notes that the response to Nexium was much faster than those who received a placebo. However, it’s important to note that the patients receiving Nexium experienced a greater number of adverse events than those receiving a placebo. The patients who received the Nexium or a placebo reported a slightly better response to the treatment than the patients who received the placebo. This was true even though the side effects included some degree of weight loss.
“We didn’t feel that we were taking a lot of risks or making decisions that were wrong,” Schafer says.
He notes that the side effects experienced by patients with CHF were very mild and less than what the side effects experienced by patients with heart failure. He also notes that the patients who experienced side effects included weight loss, nausea, fatigue and dizziness.
“It’s important to be patient,” Schafer says. “When you’re dealing with a patient who’s dealing with a heart failure patient, you’re really dealing with something that we have to deal with.”
Patients are being treated with a form of Nexium known as Nexium, which has been approved by the FDA for use in the treatment of heart failure. The generic version of Nexium, Nexium XR, is now available in the U. for patients who cannot tolerate the side effects of Nexium, including the weight loss and nausea.
This is not an exhaustive list of side effects that patients can experience when taking Nexium, and more information is available on the drug’s.

Nexium Acid Tablets are a medication used to treat conditions such as acid reflux, heartburn, acid-related conditions, and conditions such as acid reflux esophagitis and gastritis. NEXIUM works by reducing stomach acid, which is responsible for discomfort and symptoms of GERD. It belongs to a class of medications called proton pump inhibitors (PPIs), which are used to treat gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), stomach ulcers, and heartburn. When taken as directed, Nexium works by blocking the release of stomach acid into the esophagus, which stops the production of acid. This makes it easier to pass food or drink through the esophagus and prevents the passage of stomach acid.
If you are experiencing frequent heartburn or acid reflux, Nexium Acid Tablets may help.
Nexium is taken orally as a tablet, once or twice daily. It is available in capsule form. For more information, see the “Boxed Tablets” tab in the “Boxed Drug Information” section of this page. If you have any questions or concerns about Nexium or its treatment, please talk to your doctor or pharmacist.
Nexium is a prescription medication used to treat conditions such as acid reflux, heartburn, acid reflux esophagitis and gastritis. PPIs work by decreasing the amount of acid that can be absorbed by the stomach. They also can help lower your risk of developing certain heart conditions. PPIs are typically taken once a day or as directed by your doctor. Nexium Tablets are most effective when taken on an empty stomach.
